What to Expect from Japan’s 2025 Shincha Season 🌱

Spring in Japan doesn’t just bring cherry blossoms 🌸 It’s also Shincha(new tea) season!🌱 And this year, the leaves are looking especially fresh and flavorful.

👀 What is Shincha?

Shincha (新茶), meaning “new tea” in Japanese, is the first harvest of the year, usually picked in late April to early May. It’s only available for a short time each year, and for many tea lovers, it’s the most exciting tea of the season!

🍃 Why This Year is Special

Thanks to great weather, chilly mornings and sunny afternoons, tea plants had more time to grow and soak up nutrients. That means 2025’s Shincha will be rich in flavor, bright green in color, and full of natural Umami sweetness.

✨ What Shincha Tastes Like

Shincha is known for its fresh, grassy aroma and smooth, sweet flavor. This year’s tea is especially:

🍵 Bright green and vibrant

🍵 High in theanine (for a natural sweetness)

🍵 Aromatic and refreshing

🫖 Can’t Wait to Taste Shincha? Neither Can We!

2025’s Shincha is expected to be one of the best in recent years. Full of flavor, carefully picked, and loved by tea drinkers around the world. While we wait for this year’s harvest to arrive, now is the perfect time to learn more about Shincha, and get ready for that first fresh sip 🍵
