Today at Hokusan Tea Canada, we celebrate International Women’s Day. We are proud to be a woman-led company, founded by Rikko Osaki and supported by a dedicated, hardworking team of women.

The Japanese tea industry, particularly in leadership and ownership, has long been male-dominated. Tradition runs deep, and with tradition, change can move slowly. We deeply respect tradition, but we also believe tradition and progress can coexist.

Woman-led companies create visible examples for:

Representation changes what people believe is possible. 

🍵 Rikko’s Journey

In 2021, Rikko worked as a tea farmer in Japan - still uncommon for women in the fields. That same year, she became the first-ever female tea auction worker at the Shizuoka Tea Auction Market.

We are building bridges:

Between Japan and Canada.

Between farmers and cafes.

Between history and innovation.

Between tradition and new leadership.

Our team works hard. We think boldly. We lead with strength and purpose. And we believe matcha can also be part of modern progress. 💪💚
